 I want to use watercolor, gouache and water soluble charcoal pencil to highlight light and shade between the hands and the mother. First by sketching out my artwork and layering with watercolor then adding shade. I want to show the steady growth of the baby, and in this work the mother will have color: to resemble the effects the baby is having on her and how happy she is to have such a child in the world. 

 I sketched out my idea and decided to use chalk pencils to emphasize depth and realism. And drew the baby’s hands like it’s reaching out for its parents. I wanted to show how a baby isn’t able to clearly see who its parents are but still trying to reach out, it also shows a child and birth can bring so much happiness and joy to the people around them. 

 In this work I want to show the beginning of a life and how coming into this world can mean and affect many people around you. This piece shows the baby reaching out for her mother’s hand to show that through touch, the baby is able to bring happiness to her mother (and father). The baby mobile on top will have pieces of the baby’s future hanging, sort of foreshadowing the future.
