This artwork represents the sacrifice people go through in life. I used watercolor to illustrate a person sacrificing themselves represented through red poppies. (Red poppies represent sacrifice in flower language). And I used plastic leaves and flowers to give a lifted look to emphasize depth. I began by drawing out my person and putting a poppy on her face to resemble putting others before oneself. I had painted a green background already, but the fake leaves added more depth and sentiment. In this artwork I wanted to show how sacrifice is a big part of life. It is something that gets overlooked by other aspects such as death, love and remembrance. I used black as her clothing to represent a funeral, her own funeral as she is giving herself up.
How can my mixed media work express both the physical and emotional changes of life?I explore the fragility of life through colorful display as it follows a girl who begins to recognize the fleeting length of life. I mainly used watercolor and experimented with collage, acrylic, gouache and charcoal as a way to emphasize depth and light and shade. I revised (11,8) through collage to give more render.  Across the multiple works I explored I tried to relay aspects of life. The aspects are realization, acceptance, sacrifice and appreciation. I used mainly used watercolor to illustrate a distant memory and collage to emphasize eeriness (11) and change (8).
How can my media work express my understanding of life? I explore the fragility of life through colorful displays & a variety of mixed media. My Si follows a girl and how she begins to recognize how nimble time can be and how our bodies change along with it. People tend to take advantage of life. That makes you question, do you even value our lives? My goal through this project was to show how fragile time is as well as our bodies. I mainly used watercolor in my artworks as it is the most comfortable medium for me. I experimented with collage, charcoal, gouache and acrylic, mediums I consider fairly difficult for me.  Describe ways your SI developed through practice, experimentation, and revision.  In each piece I tried to relay my understanding of time and life. Life goes by very fast and in order to show that I dedicated 3 pieces to it, each with their own aspect (5,8,10). Throughout my art work I explored different aspects of life: realization (10) acceptance (11) sacri...

In this artwork I used watercolor and water-resistant paper (yupo) to create a disruption of beauty to illustrate distant memories and invoke a sense of longing. I began by sketching out my idea and going on in with watercolor. It was hard at first as the canvas made it difficult to control the flow of things, but I got the hang of it eventually. Since looking back on childhood days are usually hard to, I wanted to disrupt the face with layers of colors to show how we can never fully remember what it was like back then. In this artwork I wanted to show the longing people have for their childhoods and remember the "good old days". I drew a picture of two little girls to resemble the innocence, happy and care-free nature we had growing up and how it is all a memory to look back on.
